What to know before placing your order

Booking & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 2025

This policy explains how bookings, deposits, payments and cancellations are handled at Wonderland Bakehouse. By placing an order, you agree to the terms below.

  1. Making a booking

All cakes are made to order. A date is not reserved until:

  • all details have been agreed, and
  • the required deposit has been paid.

Minimum advance notice:

  • Wedding cakes: minimum 1 month before the event
  • Custom celebration cakes: minimum 2 weeks

Short-notice bookings may be accepted at our discretion if realistic within the schedule. Additional conditions may apply.

  1. Deposits

A deposit of 30% is required to secure your booking.
Deposits are non-refundable, except in force majeure situations as described in Section 9.

The deposit covers:

  • design planning
  • administrative time
  • securing your date
  • purchase of initial materials or decorative elements

If a booking is not confirmed with a deposit, the date remains open.

  1. Final payment

Wedding cakes: the outstanding balance must be paid 1 month before the event date.
Custom cakes: the balance must be paid 1 week before the event.

If the balance is not paid on time, the booking may be cancelled and the deposit will not be refunded.

  1. Changing the design

Design changes are accepted until:

  • 2 weeks before the event (wedding cakes)
  • 4 days before the event (custom cakes)

Later changes may not be possible or may incur additional charges.
Minor adjustments may be accepted only if practically feasible.

  1. Client cancellations — wedding cakes

If the client cancels:

  • More than 1 month before the event: deposit is retained
  • 3 weeks before the event: 75% of the order value is retained
  • 2 weeks or less before the event: 100% of the order value is retained (no refund)

This applies regardless of the reason for cancellation.

  1. Client cancellations — custom cakes

If the client cancels:

  • 4 days before the event: deposit is retained
  • 3 days or less before the event: 100% of the order value is retained
  1. Work already completed and purchased items

Refund decisions take into account:

  • time spent on consultations and planning
  • design preparation
  • custom decorations, toppers, sugar flowers, or materials already purchased or created

These costs are non-refundable.

  1. Date changes

A request to move the order to a different date is treated as a new booking and is subject to availability.
If the new date is unavailable, it is treated as a cancellation under the terms above.
Deposits are not refundable when dates are changed.

  1. Venue-related cancellations

If a venue cancels or changes the event date, the client remains responsible for the booking.
Standard cancellation terms apply.

  1. Switching to another supplier

Changing to a different cake maker is classed as a cancellation.
Standard cancellation terms apply without exception.

  1. Partial cancellations

Reductions in quantities or removal of items from the order are not refundable once the booking is confirmed.
Adjustments may be possible only if no preparation work or purchases have been made.

  1. Failed delivery or collection

No refund is issued if delivery cannot be completed due to:

  • incorrect or incomplete information
  • lack of access to the venue
  • no authorised person available to receive the cake

A redelivery fee may apply.

If the client fails to collect their cake at the agreed time, Wonderland Bakehouse is not responsible for deterioration in quality.

  1. Cancellations by Wonderland Bakehouse — force majeure

If Wonderland Bakehouse is unable to complete the order due to force majeure (illness, accident, severe unforeseen events, strikes, major disruptions), clients will receive:

  • a full refund

Vehicle issues, minor weather conditions, traffic delays or operational challenges are not classed as force majeure. Alternative arrangements will always be made.

  1. Cancellations by Wonderland Bakehouse for other reasons

If cancellation occurs for a reason not covered by force majeure, clients will receive a full refund of all payments made and 10% off for next bookings.

  1. Contact for cancellations and amendments

All booking amendments or cancellations must be sent in writing to:
